The Cellar Bar, Fallon and Byrne |
There's a simple idea behind Fallon & Byrne. They believe in wonderful food and fine beverages. They put it on their shelves for you to take away, or they serve it to you, in several ways. Winner of the ‘Best Wine Experience’ in 2010, the wine cellar downstairs holds over 600 wines, 70 which you can have by the glass. The shelves are stacked high with serious wines from the old and new worlds and more importantly, staff are finely attuned and trained to give helpful advice on food pairings and wines for every occasion. There's an affordable range of nibbles such as cheese, charcuterie plates and lobster salad. Shoppers can relax in one of the luxurious leather arm chairs and during the winter enjoy the open fire. The deli food from the food hall is fantastic, and can be eaten downstairs in the wine bar. For a full hot meal early evening it’s probably one of the best value options in the city. If eating in the wine bar I would usually tend to go for this option as there is slightly more choice than on the wine bar menu, but having said that what I have seen and sampled from the wine bar menu has always been lovely. I recommend sharing a plate of Irish oysters and drinking a couple of glasses of crisp Riesling…the perfect post-work treat!
